May 10-June 9, the Gilchrist Gallery hosts the exhibition "More Woven Dreams" by metal sculptor Suzanne Donazetti.
Opening Reception: May 11, 5-7PM.
On Saturday, June 1, at 2PM, Donazetti will lead an "artist talk-thru" at the Gilchrist Gallery and Museum.
Donazetti will use pieces currently on exhibit in "More Woven Dreams" to illustrate the discussion. The artist will discuss her unique technique of painting metal sheets and weaving them into wall sculptures. She will talk about her inspirations and her route from working in the Biophysics Department of Johns Hopkins to becoming a lauded professional artist. There is no charge for this event or entrance to the museum, though donations are appreciated.
The Gilchrist is located at 104 Washington Street in Cumberland. Regular museum hours are Friday through Sunday from 1-4PM. On the first Saturday of each new exhibit, the museum will host a ‚€œmeet the artists‚€ reception from 5-7PM during which the public can enjoy food and beverages while viewing and discussing the works with the artists and fellow patrons.
In addition to the changing exhibits, The Gilchrist Museum and Gallery proudly maintains and presents the historic 1840's home and pieces from its permanent collection including its extensive Wellington Collection and historic apparel. Throughout the year, the Gilchrist will offer special lectures and events highlighting aspects of the presentations and the museum's historical prominence and commitment to the full spectrum of the arts and commitment to the community.
