2009 Mountain Maryland Artists Studio Tour (2nd Weekend)
11/14/2009-11/15/2009
Welcome to the 2nd weekend of the annual Mountain Maryland Artists Studio Tour, which is coordinated by the Allegany Arts Council on behalf of the many talented visual artists in our region.
From modest beginnings more than a decade ago, the Artists Studio Tour has evolved into a highly anticipated annual event that attracts art-lovers to Mountain Maryland from throughout the tri-state region. With thirty-seven (37) participating artists from Allegany & Garrett Counties and nearby West Virginia, the 2009 Artists Studio Tour promises to be another great event! To give you enough time to visit as many locations as possible, all of the studios on the Tour will be open from 10AM-5PM over two weekends: Saturday and Sunday, November 7th & 8th and Saturday and Sunday, November 14th & 15th. With your free Mountain Maryland Artists Studio Tour Guidebook (available from the Allegany Arts Council) and a full tank of gas, there’s a wonderful world of art waiting for you to discover!
We think it's fair to say that the growth of the Mountain Maryland Artists Studio Tour in recent years is a reflection of the overall growth of the arts in our community. A convenient day-trip from Washington, Baltimore and Pittsburgh, more and more people are discovering the artistic energy and cultural richness that exists throughout Allegany County and the surrounding areas. And, thanks to the popularity of events like the annual Artists Studio Tour, more and more visitors are traveling to Western Maryland specifically to experience and enjoy the arts. As a result, the Arts & Entertainment Districts in both Downtown Cumberland and Downtown Frostburg, Allegany County’s two largest population centers, are flourishing and the area is gaining a well-deserved reputation as a vibrant, regional arts destination.
