Welcome to the 2013 Mountain Maryland Plein Air event! This fifth annual juried exhibition and art competition is sponsored by the Allegany Arts Council, a non-profit organization that was established in 1975 to support and grow the arts in our community.
The 2013 Mountain Maryland Plein Air event will take place from Tuesday, May 28 - Sunday, June 16 throughout Allegany & Garrett Counties in Western Maryland. Only thirty (30) artists will be accepted to participate, and over $5,000 in prize money will be awarded, including $2,000 for Best of Show! Here is the schedule of activities for the 2013 event:
Tuesday, May 28, 5PM: Welcome Dinner for Participating Artists
May 29-31: Artists paint throughout Allegany and Garrett Counties
Friday, May 31: 6-8PM: Artists & Sponsors Reception at the home of Gloria Saville
Saturday, June 1, 10AM-Noon: "Quick Draw" event in Downtown Cumberland
Saturday, June 1, 5-6PM: Sponsors’ Preview at the Saville Gallery
Saturday, June 1, 6-8PM: Public Opening Reception & Awards Ceremony at the Saville Gallery
Sunday, June 9, 12:30AM-2:30PM: Plein Air Jazz Brunch at the Saville Gallery (featuring music by Jim Roderick and catering by the Baltimore Street Grill)
June 1-16: Artwork remains on display in the Saville Gallery
This year's juror and awards judge is Albert Gury, chairman of the art department at the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts, in Philadelphia, PA. Congratulations to the 30 artists who have been accepted to participate in our 2013 Mountain Maryland Plein Air event:
