05/13/2013-05/17/2013
From May 13-17, the Allegany Arts Council and the Allegany County Board of Education will present the annual Arts in the Schools Week program! The 2013 program will visit Westernport Elementary and George's Creek Elementary. During the program, local and regional artists, musicians, actors, dancers, poets and writers will engage the students with a week-long “arts immersion” experience. The format of the week includes a variety of arts-related performances, presentations and hands-on workshops, and topics include everything from ballet to the blues, storytelling to Shakespeare, and poetry to print-making. The goals of this annual program are to stimulate creative and critical thinking, encourage students to learn new ways for self-expression, and spark the students’ interest and appreciation for the arts that will last a lifetime!
The 2013 Arts in the Schools Week program is sponsored by the Allegany Arts Council, Allegany County Board of Education and the Maryland State Arts Council. For additional information about this wonderful program, please call the Allegany Arts Council at 301-777-ARTS (2787).
