Toddler Music classes will begin at the Tri-State Community School for the Arts, located 115 Baltimore Street in Downtown Cumberland (in the mezzanine above Hobby’s Plus).
Music Movers toddler music classes will start a new session beginning Thursday, April 12 and running on Thursday mornings until May 31. The walking-3 1/2 years old class meets from 9:30-10AM and the 3 1/2 - 5 year old class meets from 10:15-10:45AM. Tuition for this class is $70, siblings receive a half-price discount. Music Movers classes involve a variety of music activities for young children. Kids get to play with egg shakers, rhythm sticks, jingle bells. They learn about motion- shaking, clapping, stepping, and stopping. Focus is placed on counting, colors, seasons, and sounds. Parents are asked to stay with kids 3 1/2 years and younger. Pre-K kids can be dropped off.
Instructor Sarah Jackson graduated from Frostburg State University in 1997 with a degree in Music Education. An accomplished flutist, Sarah taught Elementary General Music classes and Middle and High School Orchestra classes throughout Allegany County before leaving to work at Kauffman Music for 10 years. She has taught Musicgarten/Music Movers classes since 2004 and is in great demand as a private flute teacher.
