Guitar Ensemble Concert
Frostburg Fine & Performing Arts
05/01/2012
The Frostburg State University Department of Music’s Guitar Ensemble will present a concert that is a mix of the old and new on Tuesday, May 1, at 8PM in the Pealer Recital Hall of the Performing Arts Center. This concert is free and open to the public.

The highlight of this concert will be the world premiere of solo guitar works by Baltimore native Kim McIntyre. The FSU guitar students will perform works by the master composer J.S. Bach as well as other classical works by guitarists Matteo Carcassi and Fernando Sor. The program continues with pieces by the Romantic period guitarist Francisco Tarrega and ragtime pieces by Scott Joplin. On the modern side, the program will feature works of Cuban composer Leo Brouwer and the two recently composed pieces, “Austin Tango” by Roland Dyens and “Tocarre” by Maryland composer Jeffrey Hoover.
