Brass Ensemble Concert
Frostburg Fine & Performing Arts
05/04/2012
Frostburg State University’s Department of Music will present its Brass Ensemble concert, accompanied by Dr. Sean Beachy, on Friday, May 4, at 8PM in the Pealer Recital Hall of FSU’s Performing Arts Center. The concert is free and open to the public.

The ensemble and soloists will perform pieces from musical theatre such as “Jekyll and Hide,” “Damn Yankees,” “Rent,” “Little Women” and “West Side Story.” The ensemble will also perform Eric Ewazen’s “Grand Valley Fanfare,” which was commissioned for the inauguration of the 2001 president of Grand Valley University. They will also perform “Jupiter” from “The Planets Suite” by Gustav Holst. This piece is full of jolliness and fun, as the music portrays Jupiter as being the planet of benevolence and generosity. The program also includes works by composers J.S. Bach, Fisher Tull, Henry Purcell and Paul Dukas.

For more information, contact the Department of Music at 301-687-4109.
