The Maryland Theatre Arts Company will be presenting “Cinderella,” at the Cumberland Theatre, 101 Johnson Street in Cumberland, MD, on Thursday, Friday & Saturday, May 17-19 at 8PM and Sunday, May 20 at 3PM.
The show is an enchanting fairy tale production that is an amusing, energetic and delightful presentation of the classic tale for children of all ages. There are several large musical numbers and even a waltz.
The show stars Jewelein Stevenson and Josie Squires, both local theatre veterans, who take turns being Cinderella. Sarah Byers, Marie Lewis, Mady Parks and Anna Mudge share the roles of the Stepsisters; Alexandra Conley portrays the Stepmother.
Hannah Yazdani is the Fairy Godmother who comes to help Cinderella with the aid of her apprentice, play ed by Madeline Sokoloski. Ahkeir Woods plays the Prince who searches for Cinderella with the assistance of the Majordomo, Ben Benson. The remainder of the large cast make up the chorus of the show which includes the townspeople and the nobility at the palace, as well as Cinderella‘s cat and a friendly little mouse.
The Maryland Theatre Arts Company is a non-profit organization dedicated to instilling in children a love and appreciation of theater that will last a lifetime and to giving children and young people the chance to experience the dramatic arts for themselves, both by participating in and viewing theatrical productions especially for children and families.
