All lovers of grand sweeping sagas are invited to a book launch and reception to celebrate the release of the new novel “Song of the Red Sparrow: Book Two,” the second chapter in the “Prairie Gulch” series by Rory Shane Riggs.
Attendees will be able to meet the author, purchase a book or two and get their novels signed. There will also be readings from the book, local actors dressed as characters from the story, and a "village social" atmosphere. The event will take place Saturday July 28, from 6-8PM in the community room of the Allegany Arts Council. The book is also available online and at finer booksellers nationwide.
The premise of “Song of the Red Sparrow”:
It has been two decades since one of the most shocking events to stun a young nation. And now, what seems on the surface like the innocent arrival of four singers to a hidden town in Texas causes a series of events to take place that could alter history itself. One of the young performers could be the key to unlocking a legend told for decades and while fates and lives hang in the balance, rumors are whispered, buried lies are uncovered, romance blooms, secrets are protected, violence erupts, hidden identities are revealed, motives and loyalties are questioned, and people are not always what they appear to be.
