It's almost time to begin thinking about your entry into the 2020 Allegany National Photography Competition & Exhibition! To get ready, join us for the second in a series of workshops in which you can hone your skills, sharpen your focus, and make the most of your camera.
This workshop, Next Step to Better Photo Editing: Using Photoshop Selections and Layers, will offer you tips that will help enhance your photography.
- Understanding different types of layers for non-destructive editing
- Using selection tools for targeted adjustments
- Adjusting layer transparency and blending modes
- Applying layers to improve landscapes and portraits
- Hands-on: using what you learn on your own photos

Darrin Isom has been involved in the world of photography for over 20 years. He attended Frostburg State University and graduated with a degree in Graphic Design/Photography and a Minor in art history. Darrin currently works for Allegany County as an Art Teacher at Fort Hill High School and has been teaching art in some capacity for the last 15 years. His work "Wingspan" won first place at the 1st annual AAC National Photography exhibition. "The Buc" was also awarded people's choice at the same event, as well as being accepting into the "This is America" show in Providence, RI.
Should You Register?
Participants in this workshop will receive maximum benefit when they have basic familiarity with some type of photo editing software. Registrants will be required to bring their own laptop with editing software pre-loaded, along with a thumb drive containing a few personal photo files.
