Part of the Allegany Arts Council's function is to grant funds to local non-profit organizations and individuals. In FY'13 (the most recently concluded fiscal year), the Allegany Arts Council awarded over $32,000 in General Operating Grants, Special Project Grants, and Hadra Scholarship Grants to individuals and organizations throughout Allegany County. Hadra Scholarship Fund
The purpose of the Allegany Arts Council's Hadra Scholarship Fund is to provide small monetary grants to individuals residing in Allegany County who are in need of financial assistance to pursue an interest or an experience in the arts. A committee of five community members considers these applications on a quarterly basis. Funding for the Hadra Scholarship Fund is made possible through individual and corporate philanthropy.
Special Project Grants
Allegany Arts Council Special Project Grants are awarded to non-profit organizations that have a "special" opportunity to produce a new arts-related activity or event in Allegany County. The Allegany Arts Council board of directors considers these applications at its monthly meetings. Funding for the Special Project Grant program is made possible through the Community Arts Development program of the Maryland State Arts Council.
General Operating Grants
Allegany Arts Council General Operating Grants are awarded to non-profit organizations that regularly produce arts-related programming in Allegany County. These applications are considered annually by a committee of ten members from the local arts community. Funding for the General Operating Grant program is made possible through the Community Arts Development program of the Maryland State Arts Council.
