Allegany Arts Council Names 2024-2025 General Operating Grant Recipients
CUMBERLAND—The Allegany Arts Council announced the recipients of its FY2024-2025 General Operating Grant program, totaling $25,000 in funds which support arts organizations and programming in Allegany County.
Arts organizations were eligible to apply for up to $3,500 in operating support which can be used to cover a broad range of expenses and needs for non-profit organizations. Recipients included Chorus of the Potomac, Cumberland Choral Society, Cumberland Cultural Foundation, Cumberland Jazz Society, Cumberland Theatre, Embassy Theatre, FSU Center for Literary Arts, FSU Department of Theatre & Dance, Loft 129, Mountainside Baroque, Potomac Concert Band, Tri-State Community Concert Association, Savage Mountain Punk Arts and World Artists Experiences.
Says Julie Westendorff, executive director of the Arts Council, “We have a passionate belief that one organization cannot do it alone, which is why a portion of our annual operating budget benefits other arts organizations in our community. Collectively, the work of these organizations has a multiplying effect, contributing to the quality of life, establishing our community as a creative place, and ultimately, making Allegany County a more vibrant place to reside. We are exceptionally proud of the work done by these grantees, many of whom are 100% volunteer-led, and we look forward to seeing what they accomplish in the coming year.”
These funds add to other giving by the Allegany Arts Council, including as premiere sponsor of the FSU Cultural Event Series, a $10,000 commitment, and as the presenting sponsor of the 2024 Lights on the Lake, hosted by the Western Maryland Jaycees.
