The Allegany Arts Council is pleased to announce its next workshop for youth in "Youth Photo Boot Camp: Self Exploration through Photography," to take place Saturday, March 25, 2023, and in support of the organization's 9th Annual Allegany National Photography Competition & Exhibition. The event is free but registration is required. Young photographers 17 and under are invited to attend.
About the Workshop:
During the past few years the world has changed in unexpected ways, impacting our everyday lives. In this workshop, student photographers will explore how light and color can be manipulated to change atmosphere and mood of photographs. Participants will use these techniques to create both a traditional and non-traditional portrait using personal items arranged in a still life that represents how the pandemic has had a profound personal impact on them.
About the Instructors:
Darrin Isom is a long-time member of the Allegany Arts Council's Photography Committee and has been an art teacher at Ft. Hill High School for 16 years. He is an avid photographer and enjoys working with children to share his love of all things creative.
Michael Hunter Thompson is also a long-time member of the Allegany Arts Council's Photography Committee and currently serves as its Co-Chair. Michael has won several awards in the Allegany Photo Show, and recently completed a multi-year project documenting demolition of the former Allegany High School in his exhibit, "Fade to Blue."
