Artist Name: Bobby Croft
Art medium(s): Pottery
Artist bio: Clay as a medium provides a vehicle for me to explore opposing forces in art and life. Cool throwing water versus the extreme heat of a kiln. Beauty and aesthetic value versus form and function. The fragility of dry clay versus the strength and rigidity of fired work. Process and order versus experimentation and play. Pottery allows me to balance and explore those extremes to create objects of beauty and function. I am drawn to pottery as an art form as it can provide a beautiful object to appreciate as well as a vital aspect of everyday life. A mug can be appreciated for its aesthetics and its function. A platter can be used to serve a meal as it serves as a centerpiece for the table gathering. I enjoy the fact that my work can be used on the daily and be viewed as an object of beauty.
