Artist bio: Hilmar Gottesthal was born in Austria, graduated from Vienna Academy of the Arts/University winning the highest prizes. Started his international career in Istanbul Turkey where he lived for 15 yrs and received a medal for his cultural contributions. He exhibited in London, Paris, Vienna, Hamburg, and after a show in Athens Greece he moved to a Greek fishing village for 15 years. Greece made a TV movie of his life as an artist. He paints in watercolor, oils, squid ink, and carves in marble, wood, and creates 3D-stained glass sculptures. He works from Sanctuary Studios a woodland studio in Flintstone, Maryland that is always open for visitors.
