Artist bio: I maintain a small working studio in my home and draw creative inspiration from my immediate surroundings and beyond. Two passions of mine also seem to come to play in my visual art work — music and landscape gardening. Music is always in the air in my studio. Landscape gardening brings me into the natural world in a direct way. I also enjoy working with stone and mortar and over the years have transformed my backyard into a somewhat magical place. In thinking about the deeper ‘drive’ at work in my paintings and sculptures are connections with the natural world from the surface to the core — standing on the ground (perhaps in my backyard) and reaching to the expansive cosmology of existence — psychological, comical, subconscious, super consciousness.
