Sara Swacina is a painter and educator whose practice explores the expressive and narrative potential of light. She earned her Master of Fine Arts in Visual Art from Wilson College, where her thesis examined how painters use light to create meaning, connection, and emotional resonance. Drawing from both historical and contemporary painting practices, her work investigates light as a means of shaping atmosphere, narrative, and emotional experience. Swacina has exhibited her work in local and national juried exhibitions, receiving honors including Juror’s Choice from Hill Center Gallery in Washington, D.C., and the Lee Weaver Memorial Award from the Museum of Fine Arts in Hagerstown, Maryland. In addition to her studio practice, she is an art educator with experience teaching across community, K–12, and collegiate settings.
