Two Exhibitions to Open February 4 at the Allegany Arts Council

CUMBERLAND, MD—The Allegany Arts Council is pleased to announce two exhibitions that will take place in its Saville and Schwab Galleries February 4-25, 2023. The Saville Gallery will feature Studio Sessions Showcase, exhibiting the work created by ten artists-in-residence during the Arts Council’s January Studio Sessions program. Pieces by Ed Coffey, Carol Costello, Deborah Gay, Donna Godlove, Lita Havens, Megan Jean Klay, George Lanigan, Leola Saville, Aurelia Schanzenbacher, and Patricia Wilt will span a variety of mediums including drawing, painting, pastels, sculpture, and fiber arts.
The Schwab Gallery will present winning photographs from the 5th Annual Mountain Maryland Photo Contest. Sponsored by Allegany County Tourism, the contest invites community members and visitors to share images that tell Allegany County, the Mountain Side of Maryland’s story of place, culture, lifestyle, and recreation.
A joint public opening for the two exhibitions will take place, Saturday, February 4, from 6:00PM-8:00, and will include music by Megan Jean’s Secret Family—a jazz, funk, and rock band based out of Frostburg, MD. The event is free and the public is invited to attend.
