Allegany Arts Council Announces Fade to Blue Exhibition

CUMBERLAND, MD—The Allegany Arts Council will present the exhibition, Fade to Blue: A Photographic Journey, in its Saville and Schwab Galleries July 2-30, 2022. The exhibition showcases photographs Michael Hunter Thompson took in and around the former Allegany High School building before its demolition. Thompson organized photo shoots with Allegany High School alumni to recreate a sense of the life that took place in the school over the years. In addition to the resulting photographs, the show will also feature memorabilia from the school and its alumni, capturing the essence of the high school experience. A public opening for the exhibition will take place Saturday, July 9, 2022, from 2:00PM-6:00PM.
The Arts Council also will host a Gallery Walk & Talk for those wishing to explore the exhibit in greater detail. The event will take place Saturday, July 23, 2022, from 5:00PM-6:30PM. Thompson will go in-depth into the photographic exhibit, sharing more about the generations of Allegany High alumni included in the work, the techniques used to create staged photo shoots, and much more.
Beginning July 2, the Fade to Blue exhibition may be viewed on the Allegany Arts Council’s digital gallery at https://www.alleganyartscouncil.org/saville-exhibition/.
