Allegany Arts Council Announces Upcoming Exhibitions

CUMBERLAND— The Allegany Arts Council will present the work of Mooresville, North Carolina-based artist, Anne Harkness, in her exhibition titled, "In Plain View." The exhibit will take place October 29-November 19, 2022 in the Saville Gallery. As a contemporary artist, Harkness seeks to capture a distinct point of view, often finding some unexpected beauty in locations or views others would easily dismiss as ordinary. Working from her love of subject matter with a strong design element, Harkness also focuses on the importance of line in her work. She credits her emphasis on these particular components to her love of drawing and a desire to retain the looser marks that give a piece a more rustic, unfinished quality.
Also taking place October 29-November 19, an exhibition titled, “Something Else,” featuring the drawings of local artist Cole Fiscus will be on display in the Arts Council’s Schwab Gallery. Fiscus’ original line drawings, rendered mostly in black and white and sometimes accompanied by text, portray a unique and distinctive world of his own imagining.
A joint public opening will be held Saturday, November 5, from 6:00PM-8:00PM. The event is free and open to the public.
