Allegany Arts Council Announces Winners of
Western Maryland Watercolor Society Show, Full Circle

CUMBERLAND, MD—The Allegany Arts Council announced the winners of the 2024 Western Maryland Watercolor Society group exhibition, Full Circle, this past weekend during the exhibition’s Public Opening. Juror Kristen Colebank of Waites Run Studios in Wardensville, WV, presented awards from more than 60 selections.

The Western Maryland Watercolor Society is a non-profit organization that provides a group forum for watercolor enthusiasts who want to share common interests and explore new directions in watercolor painting.  The group hosts two annual exhibitions for members, both novice and accomplished watercolorists, to showcase their work.

This year’s show featured a new category, Watercolor Plus, which allowed members to add a secondary technique or medium to their work.

The winners include:

Best in Show:                  Annie, Ivana Raucci

First Place:                       Augusta Sky, Jill Baldinger

Second Place:                  That’s Creepy, Patricia Peacock

Third Place:                      Springhouse, Margie Orth

Honorable Mention:     Old Farm, Sue Arnson

Watercolor Plus:            Lights in the Flower Garden, Kathryn Delaney

Newcomer Award:        Rainbow Trail, Arlove Unger

The Western Maryland Watercolor Society is grateful to the donors who made the prizes for the competition possible. Thanks go to the Allegany Area Arts Alliance, the Appalachian Pastel League, and Lita Havens.

The exhibition will remain on display in the Arts Council’s Saville Gallery through June 15, 2024. The gallery is open Tuesday through Saturday from 11:00AM-5:00PM daily.
