Allegany Arts Council Names 2021-2022 Grant Recipients

 

CUMBERLAND—The Allegany Arts Council recently awarded a total of $27,350 in grants to nonprofit organizations and artists helping to make our region a community "alive with the arts!" General Operating Grants totaling $22,850 were distributed among 14 area nonprofits, and Creative Placemaking grants totaling $4,500 were distributed between two individual artists. General Operating Grants were awarded to: Acting Out for Good, Chorus of the Potomac, Cumberland Choral Society, Cumberland Jazz Society, Cumberland Theatre, Embassy Theatre, FSU Center for Literary Arts, FSU Cultural Events Series, FSU Department of Theatre & Dance, Maryland Theatre Arts Company, Mountainside Baroque, Savage Mountain Punk Arts, Tri-State Community Concert Association, and World Artists Experiences. Creative Placemaking Grants were awarded to: Michael Hunter Thompson for his project “Fade to Blue,” and Greg Larry for the Joe Maphis 100th Celebration.

The Arts Council is proud to support organizations and individuals dedicated to creating artistic and cultural opportunities right in our backyard—bringing history to life, producing live theater productions, giving kids the chance to perform, presenting professional musicians and dancers, hosting readings by renowned authors, and so much more.
