Allegany Arts Council presents Still Life Workshop as part of Young at Art Series
CUMBERLAND--The Allegany Arts Council is pleased to announce the next workshop in its Young at Art series, "Being Still with Still Life - Developing Drawings through Intuitive and Experimental Practices,” which will take place Wednesday, November 10, from 1:00-4:00PM. This free workshop will challenge participants to re-experience preconceived notions about creating art, as well as to explore how they "see" and interpret the world. Through a variety of sensory experiences, participants will be guided to create unique and personal drawings using a variety of drawing and mixed media tools. While the end result will be a still life of their very own, the process is designed to help participants slow down, enjoy the moment, and regain a creative mindset.
The workshop will be led by Maggie Pratt, a teaching artist who develops curriculum for youth and adult integrated arts enrichment programs through artist residency with the Evergreen Heritage Center, where the workshop will take place.
All materials for the Being Still with Still Life workshop will be onsite and available upon arrival. Registrants should wear warm and comfortable clothing, and shoes suitable for walking. Registration is free but limited to 25 participants. Registrants must be 55 and older to participate. Any guests requiring accessibility accommodations should contact the Allegany Arts Council for assistance at 301.777.2787. To register, please email art@alleganyarts.org.
Young at Art is an initiative of the Allegany Arts Council specifically geared towards novice artists 55 and older. It is funded by the Community Trust Foundation.
