Allegany Arts Council to feature the work of Charlene Nield

CUMBERLAND, MD—The Allegany Arts Council is pleased to present the work of Alexandria, VA-based artist, Charlene Nield, in an exhibition entitled, "The Art of Happenstance: Chance Meetings & Destined Friends," to take place May 1-29, 2021. The show will be on display in the Arts Council’s Saville Gallery at 9 N. Centre Street, Cumberland, and online at https://www.alleganyartscouncil.org/saville-exhibition/.

Originally from Allegany County, Charlene Nield creates paintings that celebrate color and the human and animal forms in all their glorious imperfections. Her work is funky and eclectic, combining representative, figurative, and abstract elements. In addition to Nield’s solo work, the show also includes pieces painted in collaboration with artist Ann Pickett. The two women work collaboratively under the name à deux, painting on the same surface at the same time.

Nield is a member of the well-known Torpedo Factory Artists Association in Alexandria, VA, and her work can be found in the Foundry Gallery in Washington, DC, Gallery 75 in Alexandria, VA, and the Mosaic Gallery located in Fairfax, VA.
