Allegany Arts Council will host Studio Sessions during month of January

CUMBERLAND, MD—From January 10-27, 2023, the second floor of the Allegany Arts Council will be transformed into a dynamic artist-in-residence space. During the three-week period, ten artists will be on site creating new works, demonstrating their processes, and collaborating with other artists as part of the Studio Sessions program. A schedule of demos will be available via the Allegany Arts Council website and Facebook page, and the public is invited to stop by during regular hours to observe, speak with artists about their practice, or do a little creative work of their own. In February, new work created during the program will be on display in the Saville Gallery of the Allegany Arts Council with a Public Opening to take place Saturday February 4, 2023.

The Studio Sessions program is funded through the Arts & Entertainment District of Cumberland. Cumberland is one of 28 districts across the state of Maryland who boast Arts & Entertainment Districts. These districts promote the creative economy by inviting artists to live, work and sell within their borders, and create unique and enriching experiences to engage in the arts. In addition, the use of the 2nd floor space is graciously supported by funding from the Maryland State Arts Council and the Maryland Department of Housing & Community Development’s Project Restore program.
