Host an Event

The Allegany Arts Council is available for private event rentals and may be utilized by community organizations and/or individuals wishing to share special celebrations, workshops, corporate programs, or other activities.

Imagine that special celebration or intimate evening with friends and family in a beautiful historic building located in the heart of Cumberland’s historic city center. Private rentals include the following:

  • A beautiful artistic backdrop
  • Ambient lighting in both gallery spaces
  • Soaring ceilings and hardwood floors
  • Public restrooms
  • A kitchen prep area
  • ADA-accessible entrances/exits
  • Sound system
  • Use of stage and stage lighting if required
  • Use of our 6’ rectangular tables, chairs and black linens, if required

What to Know When Considering an Event

The Allegany Arts Council maintains a full schedule of events, activities and exhibitions throughout the year, and may not be available for all private event inquiries. It is the exclusive discretion of the Arts Council to determine availability of the gallery.

When considering an event in our facility, please keep in mind the following:

  • We are a smoke-free environment. No smoking is permitted anywhere in the facility or its lobby.
  • The use of candles, sterno, or other materials with open flame are strictly prohibited.
  • All artwork in the building is for sale and is insured. Private event attendees are not permitted to touch, move or damage any artwork within the facility, and any damage to artwork will be billed to the renter at the cost of replacement. A security deposit will be required in advance.
  • Private events may not be held during the Arts Council’s normal business hours.
  • Private events which will be serving alcohol must provide all necessary liquor licenses and maintain compliance with local and state laws.
  • A member of the Arts Council staff will remain onsite at all times during private events.

Private Rental Pricing

Private event rental pricing is developed per event inquiry and based upon several factors, including the type of event, length of use of the building and surrounding spaces, and complexity of the event. Events which include offsite vendors, such as caterers, musicians, florists, etc., require additional staff time and will be priced accordingly.

Events Requiring Additional Space

The Allegany Arts Council is located in the historic 9 N. Centre Street facility, which also permits private rental of its second floor through its owner, H & S Development. The use of both spaces may be combined for events. For additional information, please contact us.
